Dane Stuckey, previously the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at Palantir, has joined OpenAI as its new CISO. He will work alongside Matt Knight, OpenAI’s head of security, to strengthen the company's security efforts.

Stuckey shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), emphasizing the importance of security in OpenAI’s mission. He noted that maintaining the highest standards for compliance, trust, and security is essential to protect millions of users and to ensure that AI technologies benefit democratic institutions and global safety.

Before joining OpenAI, Stuckey spent over a decade in various security roles within the commercial, government, and intelligence sectors. He started at Palantir in 2014, where he led detection engineering and incident response. His experience with Palantir, known for its government contracts, may help OpenAI as it seeks to expand its work with the U.S. government.

OpenAI has recently strengthened its security measures. It has been working on AI-related software projects for the U.S. Department of Defense and appointed retired General Paul Nakasone, former head of the National Security Agency, to its board. Additionally, the company posted a job listing for a head of trusted compute and cryptography, aiming to build a secure AI infrastructure to protect its technologies.

Stuckey’s experience in security could be a valuable asset as OpenAI continues to advance in AI development and its related security challenges.
