Google has expanded its AI Overviews feature in Search to reach more than 100 countries and territories, increasing access to concise, snapshot information displayed at the top of search results. Initially launched in the United States in May, the feature’s global rollout will now serve over a billion monthly users worldwide.

In addition to broader geographic availability, Google has introduced multiple language options for AI Overviews, including English, Hindi, Indonesian, Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish. This expansion aims to enhance the accessibility of AI-generated insights across diverse regions.

The AI Overview feature has also evolved since its launch, incorporating updates to make it more practical and user-friendly. Notably, Google introduced in-line links within AI Overviews, a change designed to boost website traffic by embedding direct links to relevant sources within the overview text. This new approach has reportedly improved site visits compared to earlier versions, which summarized information without link integration.

Furthermore, Google is integrating ads into AI Overviews as part of its business strategy. Ads now appear for certain mobile queries in the United States, expanding advertising opportunities within this AI-driven feature.

Following some initial issues where incorrect and potentially harmful information was provided in AI Overviews, Google has implemented ongoing improvements to enhance the feature’s reliability. In parallel, Google is also developing similar AI tools for its Shopping page, further incorporating AI across its platforms.
