Meta has announced the expansion of its AI chatbot, Meta AI, to six new countries: Brazil, the U.K., the Philippines, Bolivia, Guatemala, and Paraguay. The announcement was made by CEO Mark Zuckerberg on his WhatsApp channel.

In addition to these countries, Meta plans a gradual rollout of Meta AI to more regions, including the Middle East. Once the rollout is complete, Meta AI will be available in 43 countries, supporting over a dozen languages.

The upcoming expansion includes countries such as Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Thailand, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, and Yemen. By the end of this release cycle, Meta AI will also offer support for Arabic, Indonesian, Thai, and Vietnamese languages.

Meta AI can be accessed through Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger, and the Meta.ai website.

During the Meta Connect event last month, Zuckerberg revealed that Meta AI now serves nearly 500 million users globally. He also mentioned that the chatbot is on track to become the world's most used assistant by the end of the year.

Susan Li, Meta’s CFO, noted during the Q2 2024 earnings call that India is currently Meta AI’s largest market, primarily due to WhatsApp's vast user base of over 500 million in the country.

Recently, Meta introduced new features to Meta AI, such as celebrity voices and lip-synced translations. The company also expanded the AI-powered "Imagine" feature across Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, enabling users to generate photos using natural language prompts. Additionally, Meta AI now has the capability to analyze and provide insights about users' photos, along with editing features.
